Kaine Statement On Silver Line Announcement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine released the following statement on the announcement that Phase I of the Silver Line is scheduled to begin service on July 26, 2014:

“Today’s announcement that Phase I of the Silver Line will begin service on July 26th is news we’ve been anticipating for years.  This was one of the most challenging infrastructure projects I worked on as Governor, and it wouldn’t have been possible without years of hard work and innovative thinking from bipartisan stakeholders up and down the Dulles Corridor.  This project is an example of what elected officials can accomplish when we put aside our partisan differences and work together to improve Virginia.  While the delays and glitches have been frustrating, I am optimistic the Silver Line will improve daily life for thousands of commuters and that the long-term benefits in improved traffic, economic development, and livable communities will be worth the wait.”
