Kaine Statement on President Biden’s Announcement of Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine—who serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee—released the following statement regarding the formal launch by President Biden and G7 leaders of the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII):

“I applaud President Biden for building on the success of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law through the PGII. This plan will help create more opportunities for American workers and businesses, improve global supply chains, and promote clean energy investments. The PGII will also help meet the vast infrastructure needs of low- and middle-income countries in a transparent, equitable manner that prioritizes mutual prosperity between these nations, the U.S. and our G-7 partners. It demonstrates once again that democracies can link arms to deliver for both their own citizens and those around the world.”

The announcement came on the first day of the 2022 G7 Summit, which will conclude on June 28.
