Kaine highlights $1.74 million for Danville housing project

"U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine was in Danville Wednesday to highlight $1.74 million in federal funding for the redevelopment of the former Cunningham and Hughes Funeral Home.

The funding will help transform the historic property into the Cunningham and Hughes Neighborhood Development Center, creating new community space, offices and two residential units.

Kaine said he pushed for the funding because of Danville’s growing need for housing.

'Basically I go to the Appropriations Committee and say, hey, Danville is the city on the move. It’s got a housing need. We would like to fund this project,' Kaine said. 'So I made a direct request of the Appropriations Committee for some of this.'"
