Warner, Kaine announces nearly $3.5M for clean energy in Virginia
WASHINGTON (CBS19 NEWS) -- Virginia senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine announced nearly $3.5M in federal funding to support clean energy projects across Virginia, including $76,840 for the City of Charlottesville.
The funding was awarded through the Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.
The City of Charlottesville is going to use the money to launch a program to conduct residential energy audits for 165 low- and moderate-income households in partnership with a local nonprofit. This will help people determine energy inefficiencies in their households and show residents how to access the Inflation Reduction Act’s Home Energy Rebates and other energy efficiency incentives.
These rebates and incentives will help residents finance energy efficiency upgrades and reduce energy costs.
