Kaine Statement On Passage Of Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine released the following statement on Senate passage of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act, which fixes the Medicare payment formula by changing the Sustainable Growth Rate:

“I’m pleased Congress passed legislation that will provide greater certainty for Medicare patients and providers by addressing long-term physician payment reform. In addition to fixing the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula, this bill includes important extensions to the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and community health center funding that families in Virginia and across the nation rely on. I’m hopeful these reforms will lead to improvements in patient health by ensuring that quality and value are the focus of the Medicare physician payment system.”
