Kaine Statement On Trump Veto Of National Defense Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement after President Trump vetoed the Fiscal Year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which passed both the House and the Senate with strong bipartisan support:

“By vetoing this bipartisan legislation, President Trump ekes out one final betrayal of our nation’s military. The President’s veto stands in the way of a pay raise for troops, veteran suicide prevention, and necessary investments in our national security. The NDAA has passed Congress 60 years in a row because we understand its dire importance to servicemembers, military families, and the nation. Congress will not allow the President’s action to undo this critical bipartisan work.”
