Warner & Kaine Announce Federal Funding To Help Norfolk Residents Find Affordable Housing
~ More than $300,000 awarded to Norfolk’s Housing Authority ~
WASHINGTON— U.S. Sens. Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) announced today that the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority will receive $354,192 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide housing assistance for families residing in the Diggs Park Community.
“All families deserve an equal opportunity to find safe and affordable housing,” said the Senators. “We are pleased that these critical federal dollars will help strengthen the quality of life for families while revitalizing our community.”
The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is a collaboration between HUD and local housing authorities that assists low income families, seniors, and disabled Americans find quality affordable housing in the private market. The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority has been awarded the federal funding to help families relocate in anticipation of the HUD approved Diggs Community renovation plan.
