Warner & Kaine Announce More Than $6 Million For Investments In Virginia Infrastructure, Health And Education

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine announced $6,236,062 in funding for infrastructure development, health services and Head Start programs throughout Virginia. Today’s funding is available through the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“We’re proud to announce this funding to make improvements in public health, critical infrastructure projects and early childhood education to the benefit of Virginians across the Commonwealth,” said the Senators.

The $6,236,062 will be awarded to the following entities:

  • City of Norfolk will receive $2,709,074 for HIV emergency relief projects;
  • City of Roanoke will receive $1,514,280 for the construction of a road extension and improvements to surrounding infrastructure in the city of Roanoke;
  • A Head Start project in Rocky Mount will receive $1,012,708; and,
  • City of Martinsville will receive $1,000,000 to fund improvements to the city’s water and sewer infrastructure.
