Warner, Kaine Statements On Mark Of The House Subcommittee On Seapower And Projection Forces

Mark Supports the Refueling & Overhaul of the USS George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine released the following statements on the mark of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces released today:

“This is a great example of the bipartisan Virginia Congressional delegation working together to get the maximum service life from our aircraft carriers and maintain the 11 carrier fleet,” said Warner. “Representative Forbes and the House Armed Services Committee deserve credit for thoroughly examining the issue and ensuring the refueling and complex overhaul of the USS George Washington (CVN-73) stays on track.”

“I’m pleased to see the mark of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces released today supports the refueling and overhaul of the USS George Washington,” said Kaine. “I appreciate the leadership of Subcommittee Chairman Randy Forbes on this issue in the House and look forward to working with my colleagues on the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower next month to ensure we show similar bipartisan support for an 11 carrier fleet. I will continue to fight to reduce the harmful sequestration cuts that have put our national security at risk.”
