"Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) said conversations are underway in Washington, D.C., about artificial intelligence (AI) regulation after tech professionals warned of the dangers and risks of AI if its development does not slow down.
'It’s the subject of pretty intense discussion this week as we’ve come back after the August recess,' Kaine told reporters on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

'I’m having conversations with Virginians, AI companies, and other stakeholders about the benefits and challenges posed by AI,' Kaine wrote in a statement. 'It’s clear that Congress needs to come together to put common-sense guardrails in place to ensure this technology is used responsibly. A lot of proposals are on the table, and I’m working with my colleagues to determine the best path forward.'"
