WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) announced $620,060 in federal grant funding for infrastructure upgrades to three Virginia airports. This funding is awarded through the Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program for FY26, which is made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that the senators helped negotiate and pass.
“This investment in Virginia airports will help open doors for travelers and businesses across the Commonwealth,” said the senators. “We’re proud to announce funding that improves our infrastructure and passenger experience, and helps train Virginia’s next generation of pilots.”
The program grants will be distributed as follows:
Warner and Kaine have been fierce supporters of efforts to modernize Virginia’s airports. Earlier this year, the senators announced over $2 million in federal funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to modernize infrastructure for three of Virginia’s regional and international travel hubs. Last year, the senators announced over $46 million in federal funding from the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) to improve airports across the Commonwealth.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has brought billions of dollars in investments to Virginia, including resources to repair roads and bridges, expand broadband access, improve airports, ports and waterways, and modernize public transportation.
